Running was a sport, passion, I had just reintroduced in my life when Stiff Person Syndrome symptoms destroyed my world, as I knew it. That was over 20+ years ago. With a lot of determination and prayer, daily I work on me. I wanted to independently walk some of the river trails, walking paths, and scenic city sidewalks. I bought a jogging stroller in January, an all-terrain surrogate walker.
I thought I would try to do a 5K sometime this year. From that seed of an idea, Rare Disease Day came to mind. The Donna Deegan Marathon for Breast Cancer, which includes a 5K, was in sync with my Rare Disease Day (2/28/2013) goal for awareness/advocacy. I will write a few blog posts about the challenges training for this event entailed.
The 5K blogs begin with my guest blog on NORD:
STIFF PERSON SYNDROME – A FIGHT TO THE FINISH LINE
RACING AGAINST STIFF PERSON SYNDROME
